VP, Finance
Head Office - Toronto, ONPrimaris REIT is currently hiring a dedicated and enthusiastic Vice President, Finance to join our team at our Head Office in Toronto, ON. As the VP, Finance you will lead financial reporting, corporate accounting, and risk management within a dynamic, results driven environment, reporting to the SVP of Finance. You will be an innovative self-starter, with strong analytic skills and leadership abilities.
• Financial Reporting: Lead the preparation and analysis of internal and public reporting, ensuring accuracy, compliance with regulatory requirements, and adherence to generally accepted accounting principles (IFRS)
• Controls and Compliance: Develop and maintain robust internal controls and accounting policies to mitigate risk and ensure compliance with policies
• Audit and Tax: Oversee the financial audit, income tax compliance, excise tax compliance and all other financial compliance reporting matters
• Complex Transactions: Manage and oversee complex financial transactions (and implement new accounting standards) ensuring proper accounting treatment and analysis of the impacts on the REIT’s financial results
• Coaching and Mentoring: Provide leadership and guidance to finance team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning, professional development, and high performance
• Fostering Relationships: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships at all levels of the organization and with external service providers
• Other ad hoc duties as assigned
To excel in this role, we are looking for candidates who are strong leaders and analytical skills. If this opportunity sounds interesting to you, you likely have the following attributes:
• Proven track record of 10+ years in progressively responsible Finance roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity
• Extensive experience in corporate accounting, financial reporting, controls, and compliance
• CPA designation
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial data to inform decision-making
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders, including executives, and cross-functional teams
• Demonstrated leadership abilities, including experience coaching, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and effectively manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Demonstrated sense of urgency and bias for action
• Understanding of the real estate landscape is an asset
